Lakenheath/Mildenhall Friday 13th

Had the day off on Friday for the Duxford arrivals but the wind looked 50/50 for runway 05 at Lakenheath, so decided to spend the morning in Suffolk before heading to Dux in the afternoon. Arrived nice and early for 'quick climb Friday' but hadn't realised they were on nights this week, so it was about three hours before anything moved - the visiting Norwegian contingent putting up six jets on local sorties. Some nice overshoots when they returned.
Then it was over to Mildenhall as the RC-135U 'JAKE 27' was heading back in after a short-ish sortie across Europe. Lakenheath burst into life as soon as we left.
RC-135V 'JAKE 17' was also following along behind the U-boat so got that one in the bag before heading off to Dux. We also had a pair of Finnish F-18s in for an overshoot but there was no sunlight for them , so those shots will remain in purgatory.
Not my best day out with the camera - second time this year (the other being RIAT) where I've binned way more than I've kept as almost everything comes out soft or out of focus. I wonder if it's time for an upgrade as the 50D is very old now?
I've got Monday and Tuesday off for some Cobra Warrior acton too, though I'm undecided if it'll involve Waddington or not. Might end up doing one at Lakenheath and the other at Mildenhall.
