Carlisle 19th June

Post by toom317 » Sun Jun 23, 2024 9:48 am

I headed back down to Carlisle on Wednesday mainly to get the Chinook that came in on Tuesday, but also to get a feel for the timings as it appears that Tac Blaze is operating from about 3 PM to after midnight this time round. Before leaving the house I noticed a Dutch AF Gulfstream on ADSB heading for Carlisle, so was also keen to get that as well. It was carrying the Dutch King who was paying a visit and he also went up for a flight in an Apache,(it's good to be King  ). Later on a nice wee bonus when a marinised Cougar, S-445, turned up. Carlisle isn't the greatest place for getting photos in good light, but after around 3PM the light is in your favour and on a lovely sunny afternoon and evening, like it was on Wednesday, it is perfect.

Here are all 10 Dutch AF aircraft that were present on the day, in alphabetical order, D-472,602,605, Q-37,40,42, S-440, 445, 454 and V-117.

toom , thanks for these , nice atmospherics . Perhaps the Dutch King was flying the Gulf' ...

Don't forget he is a professional pilot , having worked for 27 yrs for KLM , flying Fokker T/props and Jets .
Initially as a First Officer and then as Captain ; and might have been B737 rated as well .
Born to be King , but lived to fly ?.... Maybe .

rgds condor .
