A drive out to Coningsby on a dull and damp morning, with the hopes that the weather would break at some point, which never happened. Not until after the practice display, typical.

Spent the day down at the Visitors carpark end, for a change. Not a terrible day considering the rubbish weather. Nice to see more and more Typhoons getting some colour back on them

Lovely set. Some superb shots and I agree that it's nice to see some colour coming back to the fleet. Hope this will progress to the F35's.

I wonder if this is due to Wokey Wigston moving on? Best you can hope for on the F35 is a few red and white markings. They're limited by the stealth paint so no wraps anytime soon (or ever).

“Au contraire mon frère !” It definitely wasn't April 1st when this article was released....https://theaviationist.com/2022/06/10/f ... or-scheme/
or https://www.airandspaceforces.com/usaf- ... h-stealth/

I have seen real pictures of numerous F-35 variants with applied colour or colourful fin markings, not least the prototypes. ;) Although one has to be careful
that you're not looking at an outlandish CGI render!

The UK. could flatly refuse to do anything because they can! Although they did apply tail-stickers to the static jet for the stand-up of 809 NAS
at RAF Marham in Dec 2023.

The comment was about colour rather than tone. The Nellis machines use washable white paint and indicated that it would be removed if called into service.

Wraps and coloured paint use pigment that includes metal oxides. Not great for stealth. I supose you could remove the wrap / sticker if called to the front line but then you lose the training advantage.

Some of the USN C CAGs have limited markings (one aircraft per squadron) so possible the RAF could do something similar. Also keeping full stealth, it should be possible to have an all red jet with white and grey markings i.e. F-35 Red Arrow. I wouldn't get your hopes up though.
