On August 7, 2023, I visited the latest american aircraft carrierUSS Gerald R. Ford, CVN-78. This aircraft carrier is named after the 38th president of the United States of America, who served in the US Navy during the Second World War Gerald Rudolph Ford. The USS Gerald R.Ford is the 78th aircraft carrier of the United States Navy and the nickname is ‘WARSHIP78’, which can be found on social media as ‘#WARSHIP78’ or ‘@WARSHIP_78’. As all US Navy carriers have their own callsign, the USS Ford uses the callsign ‘WOLVERINE’. The motto of the ship is “Integrity at the Helm”, which means “taking care of, and looking out for, our shipmates.” It was really a mighty experience to be onboard of this huge vessel!!!

Here the video I made during our visit

Here two phots from the deck which I made near the side catapult:

That is fantastic - watched it twice!

Fascinating to watch the shuttle returning up the track and what is that red painted retainer that is attached to the rear of the nose wheel structure? Is it there to restrain the jet when it is at max power and does is detach or fall off automatically?

A really fascinating video

That's probably the best 'on deck' carrier film I've ever seen, those guys(gals) really need to have their wits about them.
Thanks for posting.
Slogen51, the red retainer does fall off as the aircraft starts to move. (AJ105 at 6:52).

Thanks for the positive reactions guys!! The red bar at launch is a tool to create the right momentum for launch. Is is based on the weight of the plane + its payload. The bar snaps loose at the right catapult pressure to make sure that the plane gets enough speed for a safe take off.
