Prestwick 6th and 7th June

Post by Slick » Sat Jun 10, 2023 9:27 pm

Spent an enjoyable couple days up at Prestwick earlier this week. I wanted to document US Air National Guard staging through on their way to Europe for exercise Air Defender 23. As these things usually go, the company and banter more than made for up for the Prestwick weather.

Why do military planes stop over at a civil airport, I would have thought a military airbase would have been a better option.

Simples!
Only one permanent active military airfield in Scotland and that is Lossiemouth. Plus plenty of local golf courses for the crew to pass the time 🤔

Loving the last 2. Brings back memories of the old low flying area around Worcestershire with 3 A10’s in chase mode and post refurb. test flights at Kemble.

Some great shots there, thanks for sharing these with us. A bit frustrating to living 400 miles away, a bit difficult to pop up there.

Great to see so much coverage of those lovely 'Hogs' that is sadly such a rarity these days.
Thanks for sharing your superb captures
