Starting to feel old when I recall that last afterburner departure I watched from Leeming was a based Tornado F.3

With the 493rd's F15's in town for most of the week (9 F15C'S & 1 F15D I believe) had a drive down to N.Yorkshire yesterday (Tues 24/8) in the hope of a shot or two ...

Shame the 'King' retro jet went tech, but an enjoyable day was had.

I was under the impression that the jets were staying up here as part of a planned exercise, but a few I spoke to yesterday said it was due to work on the Lakenheath runway.

I thought that happened a while back with the F15's hopping to Mildenhall - over to you Lakenheath folks for the final say
