A quick trip to Lee on Solent found the following withdrawn AAC Defenders outside the BN hangar

From the park next to East House Avenue:

ZG996, ZG998, ZH002 and ZH003 Defender R2 ex 651 Sqn AAC plus G-DLRA (ZG989) BN-2T Astor

ZG996, ZG998 and ZH002 all facing the houses and last digit on the nose is easily readable, ZH003 facing the airfield was identified from unique markings and cross checked with other photo's.

BN, would like to put the a/c up for resale and I believe tring to acquire hangar space to keep them ALL from being weathered.
There is at present an issue with BN now being a "civil" company marketing the military Defender

I forgot to upload the individual Identities of the Defenders currently at Lee on Solent for anyone as the are shuffling quit often know

AS A STARTER if you can see the nose they could all still have the last digit on there ( ZH002 photo shows it did on arrival on 8th July) credit to David Moore for pointing this out.I have just checked ZG995/ 5 and ZH005/ 05

Unfortunately the right hand sides of the aircraft are not very distintive so all my observations are from the left side (Port),with a few very distinct marks

so in order the main viewing points are the Passenger doors FRONT -BACK and LUGGAGE

RED cut marks 4 right angle lines

ZG997 /7 Front -RED cut here _____ BACK -BLANK ____ LUGGAGE - BIG Green Medical Square below Handle
https://www.flickr.com/photos/beechhawk ... otostream/

ZG998 /8 Front- RED cut here ____ Back - RED Cut here____LUGGAGE- BIG Green Medical Suare but with LARGE curved ANTI SCRATCH below handle
it also has a small white sqaure on the top of the tail

ZH002 / 2 Front RED dull cut here ____Back-BLANK___LUGGAGE - SMALL Green Medical Square below handle

ZH003 /3 Front BLANK_____ Back -BLANK ___ LUGGAGE - SMALL Green Medical Square above handle
https://tinyurl.com/f8f26hwf

ZH004 /4 This aircraft is distinct as it was a support/trainer/transport airframe,so it does not have the extra metal plate on the spar/dorsal leading to the tail.
The back 2 windows are not blanked out.It also has a Large Circular vent near the rear and has a clean nose (no sensor). Also
Front RED bright cut here ___Back -RED bright cut here ___ LUGGAGE Green medical Cross without square

ZH001 /1 This airframe is still believed to be used by BN and is currently in their hangar>It has rhe Cut here on both dooors. Its DISTINCT markings are on
back sensor points that have BRIGHT ORANGE markers on both sides.

UPDATE (the earlier arrivals in the hangar)

ZG995 /5 Front - RED cut here______ BACK-RED Cut here ____LUGGAGE -BIG Green MEDICAL Squre above curved Scuff Handle

ZG996 /6 Front - RED Cut here (faded) __ BACK BLANK _____ LUGGAGE - BIG Green MEDICAL Square plain handle

Hope it is of use to some folk .

A quick tip for those visiting: the back tape on some aircraft does not cover the whole serial so you can either identify the individual aircraft or a very limited number of options.
In addition to the notes above, ZH003 has a small white square on the top of the rudder on the port side. I can't comment on ZG998 as the port side was not on view when I visited.

The other 7 visuell included G-DLRA ex(ZG989) and parked westside. Someone knows the current serial situation about six Defender?

BN has always been a civil company from my recollection selling Islanders and Tri landers as well as military versions to over seas customers....

Erm not quite sure what you are getting at, there is no such thing as "civil" or "military" companies. There are companies that make goods for military markets and/or civil markets but I'm not aware of "civil" companies having issues marketing to military customers (they are just "customers" the same as in any other industry)

Looks like you caught them at Lee on Solent just in time - G-BLNT (ex ZG845) flew to Belfast Aldegrove yesterday, and G-BLNU (ex ZG846) looks to be following it today.

BLNT and U are now owned by Draken Europe so will presumably be back in NI doing the job they were doing before the MOD decided the job no longer needed doing, and before the MOD decided to pay a third-party a lot more than it was previously costing to do the job they were already doing.

It does seem a bit like that doesn't it 🤔

But these 2 are Islanders the 7 at Lee-on-Solent are Defenders (and the ASTOR). So they remain at Lee-on-Solent?

I visited on July, 17th and can add the following to the group of six Defender R.2's:
One had a white sheet of paper behind the port front window giving civil registration G-BWPX which should make it ZG998.
A second one had a similar sheet of white paper at the very same location but due to the angle it was presented I was unable to read it.
A third one hat a small "2" on the tip of its nose making it ZH002.
The sole Defender T.3 was not among this group.

I would be strongly interested to identify the missing four examples.
