Wildcats take the strain at Yeovilton

Post by Seacat192 » Tue Apr 13, 2021 8:13 pm

Spend another day in Pyle Lane on the southside of RNAS Yeovilton.

The Wildcat and Merlin fleets were busy during the day, and historic aircraft movements from the Navy Wings Wasp and a first time sighting for me of the yellow Harvard, which sounded lovely as it climbed away from the runway.

Now to the title of this post.

Towards the end of the afternoon, two loads were laid out near the threshold of Runway 04, and then two Wildcats made their way to the southside to take part in underslung load training.

Nice. There's a Piston Provost in the background of one shot, makes me wonder of there's a collection of vintage aircaft there that aren't Navy Wings?
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Thanks.

I’m not sure about the owner/operator of the Piston Provost, I’m afraid - though I think it’s adjacent to to the old Historic Flight hangar (sure someone will correct that if I’m wrong).

Provost almost certainly G-MOOS(XF690) which is privately owned.
