Lakenheath 15-12-2020

Post by andygolfer » Tue Dec 22, 2020 11:01 am

I spent last Tuesday at Lakenheath for a pre planned pre xmas meet up with a friend, we couldn't have picked a better day, beautiful weather and lots of action - a 22 ship launch between 12.30 and 13.00 plus 3 stragglers about 45 minutes later. Got a nice fix of aviation fumes!!!

There are works in progress on the taxiway out to the 24 end so they were all doing a Cook's tour of the base and coming down the northern taxiway to the north side holding pan or whatever the term is so there were some extra angles to take advantage of .

Here's a selection....

thanks Ashley, you certainly had an ideal spot (and excellent weather) for your viewing, I'm a tad envious! Having said that it was one of the best days I've had there for a very long time, excellent light and no heat haze except jet blast so able to get the aircraft taxiing round north side which was a nice bonus. A nice end to my 2020 aviation trips

I drove past the forest entrance on the way to Mildenhall ( can't remember why now , a P-8 maybe) I was amazed how busy the forest entrance was. Good to see people out enjoying their hobby but I just wish they would pay more attention to remaining socially distanced even when outside.

It was certainly a day to remember...

We couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise and like you say the action from dinner time on wards was non stop...
