Istrana had some bad luck with runway use and local flights (only 2 AMXs en 4 F-2000s)
Luckily we did have luck with the visiting Israeli C-130, which was en route to Nörvenich

Day 4 was Ghedi. We arrived around 9:15 and saw 6 tornados flying a formation over the base. As we arrived at the fence they all landed from the other side and the rest of the day it was quiet...
Trying to take a shot over the fence is really not possible, although you can see the base at some parts, there is police everywhere and military guards at watch towers watching you all the time.
With not even 10 minutes of sitting near the fence, the Carabinieri came to us. They asked us several questions about our reason of visit, where we stayed, where we live and wrote down all our personal details from our passports on a list with other people. Not even 5 minutes after they left, the local police arrived and told us the same things, asked pretty much the same questions and then told us we could not stand this close to the fence and sent us to a dirt road, about 200 metres away from the fence. Not that it mattered, as nothing would fly for the rest of the day anyway
the final days were spent in the alps, with not too good weather, but still had a good time.
On the day of flying back home we stayed at the airport for a few hours and walked to the Police hangar (and catched some civil too).
Still got 4 Polizia di Stato aircraft though

Re: 5 day Northern Italy tour
Nice work Zonan. Bear in mind that Ghedi is one of 2 Italian bases (and one of only 4 in Europe) that hosts American B61 nuclear bombs, which tends to make security super-twitchy!
