RAF Coningsby 10/08/20

Post by LTFT5 » Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:49 am

Hi to all,
Another good day spent at the fence whilst the sun was shining.
The following pictures where shot from various locations around the airfield.
I have to say I was shocked at the amount of litter being left along the fenceline at the 07 end, especially near the red and white metal fence and the opposite field boundary.
Plastic bottles, cans and sandwich packages all over the place, don't people realise the danger this can cause if it blows onto the airfield :O.
My mate and I got a plastic bag and picked up as we went along, here's the total:
12 Cans
8 large plastic bottles
7 small plastic water bottles
5 sandwich packets
crisp packets etc etc.

If you take it with you take it home at the end of the day!

Superb set Andy :thumb:

As. for the litter, I'm afraid all the sunshine spotters that seem to be there everyday have no idea about flight safety regarding litter etc. Hopefully when the cold wether arrives they'll stay at home watching telly and dropping rubbish around their own living rooms . . . :(

Hi Captain,
Thanks for the kind comment, hope Spectrum is Green for you :thumb:
Have you seen the number of people standing within the runway approach lights as well, beggars belief

Yes I have, I was there the other evening and the amount of people wandering under the approach lights was quite staggering, all eating and drinking too with not one litter bag between them. I can see serious implications happening soon!

HI ANDY .
Nice selection there , interesting to see the Spitfire being flown with open canopy.
Where were you stood to get the Spitfire landing shots ?

Hi M
Spitfire shots where taken from the road side just pass the spotters car park towards the now defunct `mound`
Hope that helps.

All the best

Great set Andy  Great quality and detail in some of those, top work

Shame about the litter and the types that are frequenting the bases at this time :@ Must admit it is those very types which are putting me off making the trip across

Thanks for posting, keep safe out there :thumb:

Great set, some lovely detailed shots in there.

Haven't been to Coningsby for some time (Sept 2018 I think), what happened to the hump?

Thanks for posting these, enjoyed viewing them

Good work on those photos, looking superb.

And even better work clearing up the rubbish that ignorant muggles leave behind. What a shame that you have to. I thought our hobby had a better class of person than litter louts. Even those too stupid to care about the environment, you'd think if they're into aircraft they'd know the danger of FOD.

Hi Kev
Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the kind comments.
The mound was flattened by the farmer and then the entrance has been blocked via farm machinery.
Some say it was because of litter others because people were not staying out of a restricted area (wild grasses I believe) even though there was signage.
Anyway, its another area that's gone unfortunately.

Ahhh thanks, I see, that's a shame it was a top spot.

Cheers
