Scampton 33 returning to Yeovilton - 14 July

Post by Seacat192 » Tue Jul 14, 2020 7:38 pm

I'd made a few trips to Yeovilton since the Hunter arrived at the airfield in the hope of seeing it fly, but until today, without any luck.

Seeing the Hunter plotting off the South Coast on Freedar, I set off to the Sheep Field at the 26 end of the runway, and got there with about 10 minutes to spare before the pilot started talking to the Tower :O

Just a couple of photos for now, as I intend to put a combined post with movements seen during my visits to Yeovilton once the 'deployment' has ended.

Very nice, wonder what the nose modification is all about?

Thank Tiger 1 - it was nice to see the Hunter in the Yeovilton circuit once again.

I'm of the age that I can remember the FRADU Hunters and Canberras being based at Yeovilton, so very much a trip down memory lane!

Thanks 493.

Not a clue about the mod on the nose is about, but FC member Seven mentioned it was fitted with a Sea Ceptor nose. His message can be found in this thread:

Thanks Kev :thumb:

I will be going to Pyle Lane sometime in the coming weeks in the hope of getting more photos of this one, but decided to head to the Sheep Field yesterday when I heard that 26 was in use.

Hope to see your photos soon

Roger

That's nice, liking the mod on the nose & looks like an extra aerial & bulge below the cockpit as well.

Thanks.

The mod on the nose wasn't there for todays' flight.
