The return of the Fox

Post by stevejb » Sat Jun 27, 2020 8:42 pm

After featuring on a number of 12 Squadron aircraft over the years, originating from its time flying the Fairey Fox, two of 12 Squadrons Typhoon aircraft have now appeared with the foxes head back in place. As with most other Typhoon units, the badge is shown in a shield, the lower portion of which features the Union Jack and the Qatari flag, to highlight the joint status of the squadron tasked with helping the QAF to convert to the aircraft in advance of the delivery of their own aircraft.

These were taken at Coningsby on Thursday 25th June, the hottest day of the year so far. Heat haze didn't help and the shots over the fence now the mound is no more were challenging, but overall I'm pleased with them.

The majority of the jets are still without any squadron markings, indeed these two 41 jets were the only other marked aircraft seen.

Thanks if you've got this far, and as a bonus, here is a shot of the BBMF's Spitfire P7350 parked outside their hangar for maintenance

Spit looks nice in Al Deere's markings. Plus Typhoons with markings, what's not to like!
