Lossie - Cross Runway Ops

Post by np1991 » Tue Jan 21, 2020 5:23 pm

Hi all,

At last the main airfield work has started at Lossie for P8s arrival.
With runway 23/05 out of use, the Typhoons are operating off runway 28/10 which makes for a fine change of scenery.

Excellent photos with a great choice of background scenery! All we could wish for is a change of subjects, perhaps later in the year? Thanks as always for posting.
Best wishes
Angus

Interesting to see that the Typhoon can deploy the chute before ‘weight on wheels’, reminds me of the Luftwaffe F-4’s when they used to deploy the chute well before touchdown and practically fall the last 20ft onto the runway.

Great shots Niall, lovely light and a great shot of the drogue deployment. What runway was that jet landing on? How long is 23/05 out of use? So many questions.....

Thanks folks, much appreciated.

Petepilot, 947 landed on runway 10 popping the chute before touching down. 23/05 out of action until at least October.
Cheers Niall

Superb
Are take offs with reheat more common on the short runway?

Not really, pretty much the same as normal.

Superb set, I see 947 still has the glue marks from it's 17 squadron days on the fin. :thumb:
