Lakenheath 10th Jan, and an Apache at Wattisham

Post by james.25 » Sat Jan 11, 2020 11:31 am

I Don't think I've posted on here since 2017!? Thought I'd share a few from an enjoyable Friday morning at LN. My first time at a base since the Tornado finale at Marham!

Nothing remarkable, but the early morning light was quite nice and made it a bit more interesting photographically.

Oh, and a quick nip up to Wattisham in the afternoon to catch an Apache returning in some nice light.

Cheers James.

Nice mix of angles and that light is really great especially the first shot.

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

What's that ordnance the Apache's carrying next to the missile pod?

Lovely photos James. Made the most out of the light before it disappeared!

Planning shots are nice and I really like the Apache too.

the external tank is the big bomb-looking thing, I assume the black thing is a guided missile given the lens on the front?

Sorry!

That’s a CTM, collective training missile round I believe.

Basically a practice hellfire.

Lovely shots! My first visit to East Anglia was on a Friday many years ago when Lakenheath had F111s & Eagles & Wattisham had Phantoms, not forgetting A10s & F16s at Woodbridge & Bentwaters. Sorry to bore you but I get very nostalgic sometimes lol.

Thanks for sharing 😊
