Llu Awyr Brenhinol Y Fali

Post by LTFT5 » Sat Sep 28, 2019 2:07 pm

Whilst the good lady was visiting friends in Anglesey it would have been rude of me not to have visited RAF Valley.
Its been a long time since I have posted images so here we go.
Shot on two separate days from locations around runway 19 and 13 with very contrasting weather on each day.

The Texans did not fly whilst I was there but it was nice to see the Hawks active.

All the best

Really nice set, must get up there sometime soon. Are sightlines as good as they look on your images.
Cheers

Yes the sightlines are very good.
If you use the Valley Aviation viewing area for taxiing / line up shots on runway 19 take a pair of steps,
Runway 13 is fine as there are raised sand dunes either side of the threshold.
Runway 01 just walk from Rhosneigr along the coastal path same for runway 31.
Runway 31 and 01 no ladders required.
I think Mike did an excellent airfield guide in the Valley section, check that out as well
All the best

Hi Andy,

I note in your report you said take a pair of steps for the viewing area etc. May I ask what size you`d recommend?

MTIA,

John

I'm 6ft 3 and used a three step, standing on the second step. Of course you could walk down to the crash gate and shoot over that as the aircraft taxi down to runway 19.
But be very careful as the traffic leaving the airport and coming around the bend are very close to you, it is busy.

A 5 step will allow you to shoot over the hedge from the safety of the viewing area.
All the best
