Popped in for possibly my last visit to Linton today, hoping to get a last few shots of the Tucanos (having never really got that many of the JPs before them). The residents were on nights so not much activity from them, but between 1615 and 1645 we were "blessed" with not one but two Fuglies (F35s to you) in the circuit. Each did three approaches, first ZM149 and then ZM150. Of these however, only 150 came in with the "Toilet Seat" up (approach #2). Approach number 3 was a high speed / gear up pass followed by a performance climb out....I think he might still be climbing now, the rate he was going......
anyway, got the following shot...appreciate that the sun is in the wrong place but I had to take what I could get.
ps:- I'm sorry, but there really is NO angle from which the F35 isn't ugly !!!

Like that last climb out shot - you don't get that at their home base.
The 'correct' terminology is bog seat !

Fully agree with the "Fugly" reference - I say the old JSF acronym actually meant "Jeez, Seriously Fugly".
With regards the "Toilet Seat", don't they normally come with a bg hole in the middle? Shouldn't the auxiliary engine inlet cover be a 'bog lid'?

Never thought of that, a plane with an outside loo

This set shows both the best and worst aspects of the winged computer. Worst is #4 which reminds me of a dog dragging its arse. Best obviously the last where it at least looks aerodynamic. I just can't warm to this machine. Keep remembering the old engineering adage about 'looking right' and the F-35 looks decidedly left.
