Went for a jolly today,Ludham to Fenland for lunch.
Then the plan was to visit Old Warden but with the X wind runway now closed the windsock said otherwise.
So a couple of orbits of Cardington then a squawk ident. with our American friends for a brief sojourn into the Mildenhall and Lakenheath overhead.
I guess Cardington is civvy, but don't feel these are worth a separate post.Hope mods ok with this.
Regards,Jay.

What a fantastic post - this really is another angle!
Do the Strike Eagle squadrons operate all the time from a flight line and the 493rd from their HAS complex or do the 493rd utilise these flight lines too?

Thanks everyone for such nice feedback.
Reach1985,as per the flightline I was surprised to see so many jets parked outside at the weekend and always assumed they used the HASs for weather protection.
Hopefully someone in the know can enlighten us?

Still amazes me that they leave these jets out in all weather.,

Great set , especially the Lakenheath shots
When you walk across the Warren you can normally see eagles parked up on the other side.

Hi Jay.
Excellent shots, like others I'm surprised so many Eagles left outside over the weekend.
No doubt you'll try again next time there's a F22 or similar TDY there?

Hey Jayson,
excellent opportunity taken there with a truly excellent outcome. Shots really bring a new dimension to some FC photographers favourite airfields. I must say that aside of the weather you were fortunate to have a full team of MC130J's, nice RC135's and a good team of CV22's.
Enjoyed a similar opportunity some years back when my pilot called up Waddington and Scampton for permission to overfly - this during the 'Cold War' days with dispersals rammed with Vulcans
Thanks very much for posting, thoroughly enjoyed them

Well, they are “all weather” strike aircraft!

Good to see the old SR's 'rev-shed' is still there albeit with a leanto now strapped onto the back where the exhaust chimlays used to be.
