Up close and personal with Volkel's F-16s
Up close and personal with Volkel's F-16s
Yet another day at Volkel.
This time on the side of the runways 24L/R
After a firm walk of about 45 minutes from the busstation to our location, I got some great close up shots.
The "specials" of today were J-014 en J-514.
J-014 has gotten the new 313 squadron emblem this monday, so I'm to have seen it already the day after.
J-514 has the 313 sqn Nato Tiger Meet Poznan 2018 Emblem on it.

A lot of touch and go's was making my day and the walk so much worth it.
A good friend of mine (who also filmed the A400 at NRN) will upload their video's soon, I will post them whenever they are there, as he doesn't use forums himself
Volkel is just great
F-16s are awesome, even though Volkel doesn't fly that much per wave, those things are just amazing to see and I can't get enough of it.

Awesome shots there Zonan

Liking the spotter friendly boundary treatment, which is reminiscent of Binbrook.

Ah yes, the "massive" fences at Binbrook. Haven't been to Volkel since the 80s so glad to see it appears to be still as spotter friendly as it was back then.

Sorry to disappoint you guys but the hedge you can see is on the edge of the taxiway. Volkel has wire fences and steps are needed for ground shots. Even then the hedge tends to mask the wheels. Still worth a visit but not busy normally. I would recommend a visit to Eindhoven as well for KDC-10s and C-130s.

The hedge is a very much known problem under the Volkel spotters.stigorige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 5:48 pmSorry to disappoint you guys but the hedge you can see is on the edge of the taxiway. This day it was actually cut pretty low, but normally it conceals not only the wheels of the aircraft, but also parts of the fuselage, sadly.
You can, however, go to the other side of the runway threshold, where there is no hedge and sun in the back.
You aren't as close there, but still, with about 200 mm you are fine
