:S ? Is this a Leaking Lightning? Was the pilot caught - short finals? Does SOP call for closing the Lid before flushing?

I haven't spotted the pitot tube either.

I don't understand why you are asking all these questions? He's in the transition for landing. Fully standard config for STOVL ops

I allude to the vapour trail on the stbd side of the vertical jet plume exit. I had not noticed it previously.

It must be an age thing ;)

Lol; I can think of no other aircraft that would generate such a thread on FC  . Looking at the photo from C24, it did remind me of the first Airfix model I built when I mistakenly assembled the kit in the wrong order, sticking bits on wherever I thought they might fit....

Brian,

I hope all is well with you, I think what you can see is low pressure vapour, similar to you get on top of a wing on a day with damp air, or when pulling high G.

I have some shots from Battle of Britain show at Duxford September last year that shows this in the area between the cold thrust of the fan and hot gas from the exhaust.

Trev's photo of me up the tree has pride of place in our sitting room. Of course, I only do shrubs now due to old age ;)

Keep posting
