Belgians at Otterburn

Post by toom317 » Fri Nov 16, 2018 11:15 am

Had 2 visits to the range get the Belgians before yesterday, both were in pretty grim weather. Yesterday was bright sunshine, cloudless skies, so went for a third go at them, only to discover all their troops were pulling out as it was Endex. Unusually the helis were based at Newcastle airport and not on the range itself. The light was poor on both the days I went down there, but at least the 109's were reasonably good. I was actually leaving the area at around 3 PM in dark light and rain when the NH90 turned up, so I booted it back and got a few shots of my first NH90. Caught up with Chris and we had a good natter waiting for something to happen.

Cracking set in very challenging conditions! We chanced Wednesday, got one A-109 and that was the lot! Did get to watch the heavy artillery close up which was superb! Good work sir!

Nae luck Danny. A pretty poor deployment for us happy snappers, but it was nice to see them back. I think I heard it was 2 years since they were last here. Hopefully they will be a bit more regular, and they now have a medium lift capability with the NH90, which will be a nice addition to stuff deployed here.

Nice shots there Danny, they look much better operating in their natural working area.

I managed to get them at Newcastle Airport.

Cheers, Rod.

Decent enough results there in what were obviously very challenging conditions.

Hi,

Can you possibly provide some details on where you took the pics ?
I'm fairly new to the area & have yet to find any decent resources on where to spot at Otterburn.

Thanks

Andy
