This consisted of a Chinook HC6.A (callsign Vortex 470) from RAF Odiham being flown by a crew from 27 Sqn moving 50tonnes of chalk upto the Bulford Kiwi. Next year the Bulford Kiwi will turn 100. The kiwi was constructed to commemorate the now long gone Sling camp’s during the First World War the camp was occupied by New Zealand Troops during Feb-March 1919. During the day New Zealands High Commissioner Sir Jerry Mateparae visited the site to praise all those involved in the project.
