USMC and USN at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway

A recent trip to the US gave my first chance to visit Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport in Arizona. Often used by transiting military, the previous few days had seen a USMC exercise in the area with a number of assets deploying to the airport. By the time we got there however (due to our roadtrip schedule) the majority had already left but, within 5 minutes of arriving, the distinctive sound of an Osprey could be heard from around the corner. Shortly after it departed, the KC-130J arrived (having been in and out twice already that day) to pick up more supplies before heading back out again in the last light of the day.

Finally, on the way out of the airport we spotted a couple of USN MH-60S sat parked on the ramp. Unsure of their reason for being there but lovely light!
