Valhalla Formation from Valhalla 1

Post by Duane Hewitt » Wed Jan 17, 2018 7:36 pm

The last 5 years have seen me working with the Army's Lynx helicopter. It's taken me to some great places, and along the way gathered some memorable photos. Yesterday I was lucky enough to be asked by the crew of Valhalla 1 to join them on the farewell tour, which offered some fantastic views of the other 3 aircraft in the formation, and of those of you that had come out to send the aircraft off. Needless to say the SD card came back somewhat heavy, but here's a selection from the day. More on Flickr.

Then you should have taken more cards and extra batteries as well. :P That must have been a nice outing Duane, some cracking shots there.

well done Duane. Extremely sad day to see the lynx bow out, but a chance like that to capture your last tour is just superb. Onwards on upwards!

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

It is a shame. Plenty of worthy locations had to get thrown out. I'd have loved nothing more than to dart through the Lakes and stop for gas at Carlisle. Unfortunately there wasn't enough hours in the day. Even the route we flew was just squeezed in to the daylight hours.

Not going to beat these! Well done for taking the images in the first place & better still, choosing just 11 shots from a giant haul!
Very nice images from a deserved opportunity. Keep-up the good work. :thumb:

Stunning. The last shot over London is superb.

Fantastic set, everyone is a cracker. The last shot reminds me of when I was a kid, and used to see Lynx landing on top of a block of flats... not in London of course ;-)
