Fairford 16th June- B-1 Heaven!
Fairford 16th June- B-1 Heaven!
Hi all,
Set the alarm for 2am to get up to Fairford last Friday in time for some Sunrise shots. Well, that did not go to plan and ended up waking up at 3.30am A frantic dash up the A303 and various A-roads got me at Fairford at around 4.55, and by the time I had parked up one of the B-52s took off, so no photos of that. However, the light for the first B-1 launch was tremendous, and with my sole aim of the trip being B-1 burner take off shots, I was not disappointed! The clouds rolled over for the second launch which was a bit of a shame, I stayed around for the second B-52 and the recovery of the first B-1, but had to head home to get back for work so missed the second recovery of the B-1. All in all, a cracking day was had. I had never seen any of the USAF's current bombers so to see two types and 4 movements was very pleasing.
Anyways, here are some photos, in the order they were taken:

Nice shots... and with a B-1, cloud only helps burner shots!

Re: Fairford 16th June- B-1 Heaven!
Great set, but for me #7 is the standout shot with the vortices and burners...
