Well, where to start? With over 2000 shots from two and a half days I've decided to select just a few from the different locations to give a taste of the exercise. Having stopped off at the SPTA on the way down south, and survived a night crossing from Plymouth to Roscoff, we arrived at BAN Landivisiau shortly before the first launch on the 7th for some off base togging prior to the spotters day. Having scoped out a few different locations it was decided that we set up on the south-west side initially, which proved to be too far away with the traffic all heading north-west straight after take off. Needless to say the shots all went in the bin, so we ventured up to the eastern end for the recoveries where its much easier to get closer. It was certainly a more popular location even with people in full camo gear hiding up trees!

We then decided to head to the north side of the runway, roughly half the way down, for the afternoon launches, hoping the sun had moved round enough to avoid any back lit shots. As it happened the cloud saved us any worries about that. Some of the off site locations are difficult to view from with man-made mounds and hedges blocking a lot of the views. At this location all you could see of the jets on the runway were the strobes on the tips of the tails so quick reactions are required when they do pop up from behind the mounds.

Then back over to the eastern end for the afternoon recoveries, this time on the north side of the runway. Again you can get much closer to the flight lines here and once I'd done my bit for international relations while conversing with a local with my very broken French and his very broken English, the recoveries came in.

Then onto the main event the following day. Amidst understandably very tight security, it was a very well organised and highly entertaining day. Yes, I'm sure we'd have all liked a bit of a display from some of the special marked jets but its a serious exercise and the end of the day and it should just be seen as a privilege to be allowed there. Here's a small(ish) selection.

Day 3 was a return to an off base location, again to the eastern end to catch the morning recoveries before making the trip to the ferry.

If you've made it this far then well done. Trying to compress 2000+ shots down into 25 is hard work. Thanks for looking. Tiger Tiger Tiger.

Some absolutely fantastic shots here, brilliant variety of aircraft and angles!
Glad you got to go. This is something I would love to do, but really need to look into for next year - Any help/advice would be appreciated!
All the best, and looking forward to the rest.
James.

Next years NTM event is in May at Poznan in Poland (this is according to the people we asked in the NTM tent at Landivisiau).

Thanks for the comments. Yes Poznan is a distinct possibility next year.
