Friday 17th March turned out to be, as I suspected, my final opportunity seeing the Royal Navy 'Gravy' Lynx fleet flying.
I took the gamble and instead of Pyle Lane, went to a location in Speckington, and boy did it pay off.

Cab 314 went out for a surprise (to us) local sortie around 0900hrs...

The Wildcats were active shortly after...

The photoship for the flight arrived from RNAS Culdrose - a Mk.2 Merlin.

314 returned from its sortie, and once landed was promptly refuelled ready for the 1st formation flight.

At 0955hrs, the 4 cabs lifted simultaneously and began their journey out for departure.

All of us at the fence were hoping they would make their way out to Runway 27, using the taxiway in front of us... :worship:

Lifted and away.

Waiting for the 1st wave to return, and in-between the gassing, an Army Wildcat was caught coming back from a sortie.

The 4-ship returned at 1215hrs... and landed back on for a refuel and crew change.

A gamble in a change in location opened up the possibility to get a potential 4-ship approach, turning and depart.
Thankfully the formation followed the same route out to Runway 27 as they did in the morning.

Lovely record of the day's events at VL Mark. I love the four ship head-on shot.
