Thanks to Rich Cooper, Steve Comber and the other good folks at the Centre of Aviation Photography we managed to get access to the base on the day of the official ceremony to mark the end of operations from Sion (though that may not be the case it seems). It was a privilege to be one of a few enthusiasts to be present so my thanks go to Phillipe Rey for organising and COAP for a superb experience.

Fantastic set of images, could not go this time due to work.
Sions future is still uncertain and appears to be remaining active for the military at least for the rest of this year.

Your last shot truly sums up up the utter joy of aviation photography in Switzerland,
Had many trips there and dissipate being lucky enough to have traveled the world ,
doing this hobby,it's my trips to this country a have a will enjoy the most.

Thank you for all the positive comments - two things that the trip taught me:
1. My Tamron 150-600 isnt as good as I thought it was (Sigma 150-600 Sport here I come)
2. Clean your darn sensor! God its dustspot heaven on my D7200.

Processed up a couple more - Hope that they're as good?!
