Joint Warrior - RAF Leeming
A rare Monday out for me to see the Swedish Gripens participating in the Joint Warrior Exercise at RAF Leeming. A day with little sunshine and some heavy showers finally came good when the Gripens launched for their 3rd and final sortie of the day.....just.
Thanks for looking and good look with the weather for the rest of the deployment!
Cheers;
Kevin

Great shots of the Gripen against the dark skies
Does anyone else think the twin stick Gripen looks better than the single seater, or am i just weird

!?
Nice to see the Nato C-17 "rent-a-plane" is in use
Thanks for posting!!

Hi Kevin Martin
A great set of photo`s there indeed... like all of them but No 9 really stands out for me, just loving the contrast of the two jets, well caught and thank you for sharing these with us

.
and thorny1a...I`m with you on the twin stick ... it makes a great looking aircraft... your question also makes me think of the Jaguar T2, which I think was the best looking twin stick ever.
Best rgds

A wonderful set. The ones I took yesterday are rubbish in comparison. I'd love to know where you took them from!

Hi Grahame/Anthony;
Sorry its taken a while to get back but some info as requested....
Landing shots were taken from the Londonderry end on the footpath that leads back to the base. The Gripens were turning in short most of the time hence the angled shots.
The C-17 and twin seat Gripen taxi shots are from the gate opposite the old runway, shot through the fence. The rest are from the road by the Garage leading to a crash gate, ladders 100% required here though.
Hope that helps you if your going again, hoping to get back myself a couple of afternoons next week.
Thanks for the kind comments everyone too.
Cheers;
Kevin

Hi Kev,
Just caught these.
A great set from some great vantage points.
Shot number three and nine for me, but I do have a soft spot for two seaters.
See you Wednesday if you are about.
All the best
Andy

Thanks Kevin, that's really useful. On Wednesday, I was at the Londonderry end for approach shots, but on the lane next to the Tatton Lodge B&B which is clearly not where you mean! I must do some exploring on my next visit. Thanks again for your helpful response, which is what forums like this should be about (but aren't always!)

Hi Grahame,
I've used the spot by the B&B and never had much luck there myself as the distance is too much even for a 400mm lens. Even when its cold around Leeming shots from there always seem to be full of heat haze somehow!

Hi Andy, I will be there Wednesday afternoon weather permitting.
Thanks again;
