LOSSIE AT HER BEST - 6TH OCTOBER 2016

Post by av8-images » Sun Oct 09, 2016 10:20 pm

Evening all,

Well it has been a while since I posted anything here. Thankfully, I've found my aviation mojo again recently after a change in job, house move and various other bits and pieces.

Last week, I managed to escape work and the frantic build up of the Alfred Dunhill Links, and make a spontaneous trip north to RAF Lossiemouth from Edinburgh. The sun glistened for the entire day and I was delighted to just be standing in one of my favourite areas in the UK.

Anyway, first up some of the home team;

With the culmination of Exercise Cable Car and the proceeding exercise Joint Warrior 16-2, RAF Lossiemouth was graced with no less than seven USN P8's throughout the day. A sign of things to come for the Morayshire base!

And of course, the Portuguese F16's made an appearance late afternoon.

Finally, the Fleet Air Arm appeared with two Seaking ASaC Mk.7's, which seen a mad dash over to 202 Squadron to catch them. Just what you need after a long day! I would have impressed the Team GB Rio selectors with the speed I was travelling!!

A great day, great weather and great company. Lovely to see some familiar faces, meet a couple of new ones. Just wish I had a bit longer with you all.

Hope all that go chasing JW traffic have a great time. Safe travels!

All the best and thanks for looking!

Andy

Super compositions, lovely lighting and terrific subject matter. The P-8 with the two Tornado's inbound behind is my pick from a fantastic selection.

On the strength of these, I'm glad you're back in the groove! Excellent selection from a super day. Number 10 is the stand-out image, but I'm liking several of the others too.
One question unrelated to your photography... Why did they let Stevie Wonder repaint the black nosecone on P8 '760' ?

What an amazing set of images.
All lovely but number 10 with Tornado's overshooting is a peach.

Hi Andy,
Good to see you have your "Mojo" back.
Love all the images but number 10 is a "killer shot" :thumb:

Lossie is a great base for viewing and taking photographs but what always makes it for me is the welcome.

All the best
Andy
