Jaded Thunder helis on the range. Big post.

Post by toom317 » Wed Jul 20, 2016 3:59 pm

Took time off work to try and get at least some of the AH6's that were in the country. With the range just down the road, I spent 2 days there. All the airframes were the same on both days.

Fantasic selection of images of an aircraft I never thought we'd see in the UK! Great to see they came so close, was there a bit of posing going on there too? The crew seemed to love the attention :ninja:

Fab set of photos that have captured some of the interesting and unusual sights to be seen on the range. Nothing beats those head on MH-6 shots, though lots to like throughout. Good to meet up again and glad your travels were rewarded.
Cheers

Fab photos, well done!

Two questions on the AH6s:

1. What are the big boxes taking up the back seats?
2. What do they do when it rains???!!!

There's a big box, and in front of it is either one or two thinner box(s). The thin one(s) are the ammo for the minigun. I think the big one is a fuel tank as there appears to be a nozzle on the starboard side, but I'm only guessing. I believe they brought doors, but the weather was so fine they didn't use them. One thing I did notice is it is very cramped in there, and it does look uncomfortable as they appear to be scrunched up in the front.
