Alaskan Cats... Indian Style

Complementing John's excellent set from Red Flag Alaska 16-1, are a few more shots of the fantastic Jaguars of the Indian Air Force. Twelve years since their last visit to Eielson AFB for the (then called) Cope Thunder exercise, this was of course a very rare and welcome international deployment for the type. Planning a US trip for this time for other events, a late change of plan was possible after approval for the RF-A visit came through, which meant that both Phantoms and Jaguars could now be caught while taking part in different exercises at the same time. Certainly a rare and 'last chance' for that in the US!
For now then... more of those sweet felines

Day One on base started with weather like this, with the cats not fancying playing out today!

Thankfully a huge change in the weather for Day Two, saw the Jags being prepped for flying as we arrived...

Then, after a nervous wait, following the main wave of departures, the cats finally stretched their legs...

Great access and cooperation from the Indian Air Force, who as part of their 200-personnel deployment to Alaska, brought 4 Jaguar IS and 8 pilots from 14 'Bulls' Squadron at Ambala. Known as the 'Shamsher' (sword) in IAF service, the Jaguar remains the primary ground attack aircraft with the last operator of the type...

A huge shukriya and thanks to 'Team Jaguar', as well as Wg Cdr D'Silva IAF/PRO and 1Lt Zani & staff from 354 FW/PA for the exceptional assistance.
Cheers, Kevin
