Yet more F-22s.

Post by gary1701 » Sat May 07, 2016 6:55 pm

Gents,

Here's my selection from Thursday. I didn't think I was going to be able to get over but work was kind and let me have a day at short notice, which was nice. I was certain they were going to be on 06 Thursday so expected climb out shots only but was pleasantly surprised that they stayed on 24 the whole day. If I do F-15s this post will be massive so just Raptors.

Unless I've missed the post(s) nobody yet seems to have picked up on what appears to be mission marks under the canopy of a couple of these jets, although it's very hard to see and only visible at certain angles.

Very nice

Quite a tight crop but I like them.

(Edited: one day I will learn to type proper like)

Hi Gary
Hope you are well.
Lovely set there in fantastic light
Glad you got over to see them. I noticed the mission marks, one of the aircraft that arrived on the Sunday was carrying them.
Also I see the machines carrying the drop tanks seems to be using the burners, all missions I have seen during the LN deployment haven't used the burners. (No tanks fitted then) So good to see some shots of this.
Catch you soon, all the best

Great shots, think they look great with tanks on.
How come some had tanks on,had these returned from Europe?

The cropping looks good to my eyes. A fine set of photos.

Thanks gents. I can't really comment on the tanks as that was the only day I could get over, but having looked at the threads from the last couple of weeks and besides arrivals, Thursday appears to be the first day they were being carried, but really not sure.

As for the cropping, personal taste really, unless there's a reason to widen the crop with something else to add interest, then I generally go reasonably tight. There's so much clutter around on the ground that the less visible that is distracting, the better in my eyes. Also, and although these edits will not be used for A.Net, as a long time uploader to the site, it's probably habit to crop in tight. Not saying that's right, and in many cases it certainly isn't, but these aren't intended to be artistic so a tight crop seems appropriate.

I prefer zoomed / cropped images as for me the serial is paramount

I am trying to zoom in tight but in my case it can lead to missing tails or noses!
