Much better on the 'exposure' front, but some of the H-60 shots have the background 'squinting' bright to bring-out the Helo' detail. All props & rotors have way too high shutter-speed resulting in near static blades. Osprey is a pig to get rotor blur without high binning-rate, but you could slow them slightly?

This section is devoted to photography. Ergo, you will find the majority of those that frequent it are more interested in well-taken photos, not "record shots".

I am, primarily, a number-collector, but I will quite quickly change my camera settings to get a record shot, in between taking decent photos. I accept this may be difficult in South America, but when you're at Montgomery, then I can't see it being as much of an issue?

I always enjoy your post's, some more than others but like you say they're your photos so you post what you want to, no body is forcing any body to look at them.

Hang in there ph. I have no clue about all the techo stuff but really enjoy seeing photo's from somewhere different & the variety that comes with it.

I like seeimg your subjects, something different that we don't see often.

However your 'everybody look at me' theatrical essays are quite embarrasing

There are some good & valid comments regarding the difference between accomplished photography & grab-shots, serial checks & 'Sammy side-ons'! 'Ph' will be the person to snatch a rarity from a moving airliner that could ordinarily lead to a lengthy stretch of free-board accommodation & picking-up soap! Nobody can argue that a record shot of a unique airframe is beyond worrying about settings. My point is that the serial is evident in the first Osprey shot. Therefore having time & a safe environment at MGM (assuming it's not Deliverance territory?) perhaps the following 4 samey shots posted might contain some variance in the settings on the new 'top of the shop' kit recently purchased.
The AC-130 appears to be the same shot in both cases, right down to the prop' blade positions!! I used to have an Airfix C-130 that hung from my bedroom ceiling, naturally it wasn't really flying coz the props were stopped.

I use a 36MP resolution camera and prime lenses for high quality, set exposures manually to achieve optimum exposure. None of my lenses have image stabilisation and only one has auto focus. Recently a professional photographer said that because of higher camera resolution the old rule of 1 over focal length needed to be doubled, ie 300mm lens needed a minimum exposure of 1/600, personally I use 1/1000. I set a high standard for results; aiming to read the smallest fuselage text, consequently prop blur is of no importance.
