Very well captured Kurt.

Interestingly, Typhoon procedure is, stay on throttle, touch down early - nose wheel down before RHAG (runway hydraulic arrestor gear), if it doesn't catch go round again.

May well be same same for F15, but I don't recall any sparking of hook on ground last time I watched a RHAG recovery.

Congrats on selling your photos to the Daily Mail who turned it into a figment of utter drivel. Utter horse manure.

I suspect you might find that selling images to the Daily Mail endears one's self to fellow enthusiasts greatly.

Terrible article in the Daily Fail, written by one of their two year old (mental age) reporters. :grr:

Just read the Daily Fail report. Best laugh I've had in a long time. A more refined report from Cambridge News
A fighter jet made an emergency landing at RAF Lakenheath on Thursday in dramatic scenes that saw sparks shoot from its undercarriage.

Kurt Fairhurst was watching the planes at the US air base in Suffolk on Thursday morning when he saw the incident.

It is believed the F-15 fighter jet caught its arrestor wire with its hook, which caused the sparks as it landed on the runway.

Mr Fairhurst said: "It was rather impressive to see as I've never seen an aircraft take the emergency cable before.

"I was hoping for a safe landing.

"The aircraft then stopped on the runway and emergency vehicles rushed over the make sure the aircraft was safe.

"The emergency response was impressive to see.

"You could see it was a well practiced scenario as it was very fast and organised.

"Thankfuly the aircraft landed safely."

Master Sergeant Jason Harper, 48th Operations Support Squadron airfield manager, said this type of emergency is infrequent, happening "at most twice a year".

He said: "It was a standard hydraulic failure, resulting in the aircraft landing without brakes.

"In order for the aircraft to land safely, the pilot had to engage the barrier.

"To do this, the aircraft's tail-hook was in the down position and scraped along the runway surface generating sparks.

"The end result was a safe engagement and ultimately a safe arrival.

"Since this event was deemed an emergency, all First Responders are activated and on scene as a precautionary measure."

Just a standard Carrier landing on Tarmac. It appears more impressive spark-wise 'cos it's so damn dark!
If this can make the Daily Fail it must be a quiet day in Terrorist-ville? 1-0 to Barnsley, Get-in!! :)

Selling out for a cheap Buck. Tweeting the non story to The Sun, Star and Mirror tells you much about Kurt..... As the Daily Fail ended up with it!

Yep. there is no need to dramatise a cable landing ,the base were kind enough to let us visit them and then someone stabs them in the back, what a C**T

The one base that has the closest relationship with the enthusiast community in the UK and you sell pics of a non story to a rag like that.
Well done

Kurt was on the Current Mil forum until a minute or two ago, he has obviously read the comments and has now logged-off.

What a surprise !

I bet he wished that he could turn the clock back.

Brilliant you would think that so called enthusiasts would have learnt the lesson from the low level shots sold to these rags in the past and how they totally twist things to make a non-story into a dramatic piece of writing. Nothing like stabbing your hosts in the back to make a few quid! This hobby is hard enough to get on base access and then some clown does this - well done enjoy your moment in the spotlight!

Name scrubbed from any future base or PR, list, what a waste for running to the main stream tabloids.
sure you will be trusted to do any future work or exclusives, when you would twist and exploit and exaggerate.
Amature with a camera again.
guess your name will be on the black list from today. .
