Marham 57

Post by IanG » Thu Mar 19, 2015 9:33 am

After kicking myself for not going to the loop last week in glorious weather, I decided, upon looking at the forecast for yesterday, to hedge my bets and go. Once the thick mist had lifted at 11am, we had several hawk passes, a Herc and this Tornado through late afternoon.
I have to say I was disappointed to find the car park at The Bwlch full at 8am! I had to park up the grassy bank on the main road. It's a shame that the hobby has been 'discovered' by all and sundry and whilst not trying to sound elitist, it does spoil it when every man and his dog are up the hill. I miss the good old days. . . ahhh, nostalgia's not what it used to be! Anyway, Marham 57 passing through:

Very Nice Shots.
It has become very popular these days,
When only a few knew about the loop they still wanted to post their pictures on FC etc and I'm afraid that is naturally going to attract more like minded people to go and get the same image.

I do remember a time when people were posting images and when asked where these were taken they would not tell you,
Simple rule,if you don't want someone to know don't post the pictures.
One of those things I'm afraid.
I stopped going a few years back as the air bases are quieter now with all the people in Wales :D

Thats rather an arrogant and condescending comment....if you have failed to notice, we do live in a democracy where 'all and sundry' can freely visit the LFA's...I do look forward to meeting you when I am either on the hills or at an airbase with my dog....

It was mainly due to a 2 day old rumour that the A10's were doing the Loop, normal service will be resumed next week :pop: :D

Ah the good old days, I remember them, sat on a hill all day on my own with no planes.

Rob, yeh its amazing how many people still think that if a foreign or visiting aircraft is in the UK, then it means it will go low level.....however I totally understand people going out just in case.

As for Ians point, if he has not been out for along time, it must be disappointing to get there at a normal time and find it so hard to park.Maybe a car sharing policy at busier times could be an option.

cheers

Kev

I look forward to it too, perhaps I'll bring my dogs along as well.....thanks for construing my point. Not having visited for nigh-on 4 years, I was surprised at how popular it has become that's all. Perhaps next time I'll go on a 'normal' day - and probably get a blank like the good old days Kev suggests!
