86-0182 F-15D - Let's see your best pics

Post by nick197 » Thu Oct 09, 2014 4:14 pm

Hello everyone, Well after the sad news yesterday of F-15D 86-0182 crashing and the relief of hearing the pilot was safe and well I thought it'd be a good idea to see FC members best pictures of the Eagle. I've only ever been lucky enough to see the Eagle at Lakenheath but i know a lucky few who have captured the Eagle low level and even air to air. So go ahead and post up your 3 best pictures :thumb:
1. This pic was taken on the 27/12/12

Some good photos being shared here of what so far seems to be a victim-free crash (apart from poor old 6182).

I notice in many of the pictures that she seems to have been flown many times in single-seat mode.
Is the 'D' with a single pilot a more nimble aircraft than the 'C' and perhaps used for adversary flights?
Or are there other reasons that readers may shed some light on?

Hard to believe, but just like the F-111s and F-4s, one day the F-15s too will all be gone.
Unless perhaps they're maybe revitalised for a while longer with GE engines and other upgrades.

Great idea Nick.
And some great shots posted guys :thumb:
Glad the only casualty of the accident was the airframe itself and nobody hurt.
All the best

There's little or no difference as far as I know. Recently, quite a few Cs have been deployed overseas, and other have more hours on the airframe than the Ds do, so it's likely they're just evening out hours.

It's been quite common recently for both D's to fly on the same training mission.
I guess there is now a possibility of a replacement airframe arriving over the winter, if they have any to spare!
Cheers, Stig.
