I'm not denying the effort that goes into painting up these special schemed aircraft and I think it is great that they make the effort but sadly for me, the RAF in recent years just can't seem to produce anything tasteful or eyecatching.

The RAF schemes have never been that spectacular but then I don't mind that as some of the plain and simple designs have been great.
I think a lot of the German aircraft (for example) schemes are great works of art but a little OTT in my opinion.

3 of my favourites were the 95th anniversary tail for II(AC) sqn and the 90th anniversary tails for 13 sqn, and 31 sqn.

Thanks for posting the pictures Gill. Maybe I was a bit harsh on my first post, looks a lot better close up, still think the canards are an after-thought though.

But you've got to thank 6 Squadron for making the effort to paint up a jet & hope they have a great Centenary Weekend...

Maybe because the first images were shot from a country mile away to south of the airfield and not from the privilege of inside the base on the 6Sqn pan!

Despite the fact the scheme isn't particularly to my taste I have to applaud all those involved in making the effort in the first place. The original poster should also be applauded for being the first to get an allbeit rather hazy photo of the special on the forum.
