Yeovilton - 28th Jan 16

Post by Cessna954 » Fri Jan 29, 2016 1:11 am

The break in the weather and some decent foreign visitors on nearby Salisbury Plain saw an influx of enthusiasts to Yeovilton and hopefully a good time was had by all that came along to Pyle Lane. Below is a selection of my pictures for the day's activity in the order they were taken.

It appears that the Photobucket site is currently down so you may not be able to see all the images at present.

Excellent shots, What lens are you using? I'm planning a trip down fairly soon.

Hi Saun,

Yeovilton is an incredibly accommodating base for photography from around the perimeter. Guide here - http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk ... vilton.php as the FC link didn't work for me.

At the 27 runway end 'K' on the map you'll need a focal length of 16mm upwards. Runway shots of a Sea King at 200mm for instance and a taxying C-17 at 16mm (not that you get many of the latter). You won't need a step ladder here as the fence is low but it is private property and the co-operation of the farmer needs to be reciprocated with good behaviour - no worrying the sheep  and take your litter home.

At Pyle Lane 'H' on the map you'll need a 3-step ladder and a 300mm lens or greater will be quite sufficient.

There are other good locations so as to get a variety of backdrops, F & J and good locations.

Hope this helps
