Wattisham AHDT Rehearsal 29/04/15

Post by james.25 » Thu Apr 30, 2015 9:01 pm

Evening guys,

I was over Wattisham last night helping my dad put up a fence. Thought i'd chuck the camera/scanner in the car "just in case" there was much going on. Tuned in to wattisham at around 16:30pm whilst digging in the fence posts and heard something about a display slot delayed till 17:20.............needless to say, that darn fence went up in no time!

A mad rush around to the Memorial crash gate saw me pull up just in time as the two ship display were lifing off. Due to a bit of panic to get there in time and fumbling around swapping lenses in car like a plonker I forgot to switch the camera to AI servo mode  and found myself cursing the camera during the first half of the display :grr: I then realised why it wasn't focusing right and switched it to servo and got some okay'ish shots....

James :D

Nice James, and glad you got some good ones and brave of you to go to 1/125 on them. I'd never have the guts to try that. I just wish I'd got over a bit earlier!

It's a shame you didn't make it earlier Gary, at least you would have made more of it with the correct camera settings Unlike Numpty here! 1/125th is always risky business for me, it's really a case of spray and pray, haha.

Thanks trev. If only they displayed 45mins later, the light was stunning then, front lit storm clouds, rainbows the lot! But alas nothing went up :(
