C-130 Sandcastles Pembrey 25/11/14

Post by B3n » Wed Nov 26, 2014 6:02 pm

So yesterday I decided to take a trip down the beach to try and build some sandcastles, I was having some fun until the RAF decided they wanted to join me :P

First time out with the camera in a good while so please be gentle :ninja:

Not really the background you'd expect to see in an aircraft silhouette photo (the last one), that's superb!

I'm pretty sure they get a good wash down back at base after doing stuff like this.

Last pic, nice.

Wonderful shots Ben, well done. Despite being wet sand the "runway" appears to be quite firm. As has been commented on these a/c must get one hell of a hosing down back at base. We see what the offshore rig helicopters get when they get back to Humberside and they are just flying over salt water!

They had a special area on the taxiway at Kinloss, where the aircraft were washed down by jets of water. I can remember seeing pictures of it in action, but despite spending 2 years there in the early 80's, never actually saw it happen.
