135 With a Difference

Post by Jazz » Mon May 19, 2014 2:01 am

Another Barksdale departure shot, with a noticeable change on this 135 recently... Anyone?

BTW, morning light not so clever. More to come, with Buffs sunny side up!

Shouldn't that be " now painted the correct colour". The Starboard wing upper surfaces and engine nacelles were Black until recently. Nice pic, was there much of interest at Barksdale?

Thanks for the replies. Of course, used to look like this...

Only my thoughts, but i think there is some sharing of the TC-135S across the Offutt units, not just the 45th but the 38RS as well (only being a front-end trainer), and as there is no practical reason for the black wing and engine nacelles & pylons, they decided to do away with it? Shame though, to lose something 'different'. Can anyone confirm the trainer has always had the matt black paint, since introduction (1985?).

Thunder, TBH apart from this and the B-2, the nice pair of Tyndall F-22's (both Boss Birds) were the highlight for me. Great Heritage Flight as well, with F-22, Hill F-16 and P-51. The show is just added reason to spend time there shooting those awesome Buffs!
