Stunning all of them. Looking to visit California again next year. May invest some time to this location.

Hi Tim,
just a follow up question if I may? You said in your log that the Friday the LL was closed. Do you know if that's normal or you were just unlucky?
Thanks in advance

"Oh my giddy aunt" what a post. VX-9 Vampires, enough said, picture 5 "job done"
Superb post, thanks for taking the time and trouble to talk us through your time there. Quality over quantity.
Not a busy place and I'm sure the heat would be unbearable during the summer months. How does the climb compare with the usual stroll up the welsh hills?

I was also trying to find out an answer to this, but have yet to find any confirmation that there is a relationship between Red Flag and the amount of traffic operating in the R2508 complex. I haven't seen any images of visiting aircraft taking part in a Flag using Rainbow Canyon so perhaps no. Its about a 3.5 hour drive from Las Vegas. A little more from Los Angeles.
Thanks again
Tim
Back in 2001 a Tornado GR1 from Boscombe Down came fast and low over our car not far from the eastern end of the canyon. I believe it was "nightfox" and looked to have what could have been a Brimstone development under the fuselage however i am unsure due to the speed and little time i saw it. This came from south to north so would have been on one of the regular (back then) China Lake NAWS deployments. So, "foreign aircraft" to the area do use the low level routes. Whether or not it went into the Canyon i don't know but i expect they were made aware of it being locally based.
