LTG 61 - Landsberg Airbase (ETSA) 05.03.2013

Post by migf4 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 9:27 am

Hi gents,

At the beginning of this month ,I have been to Landsberg in Bavaria, to visit some friends within the LTG 61.
And my main focus was to capture the special colored Huey in snowy conditions, and we were succesfull - snow and blue a sky was what we found in Landsberg that day.

As it was a really "stressy" day after the first German Army Tiger helicopter crashed the night before, and those guys were buys flying Pax and cargo around...everyone did an extra ordinary job, so we could do also the nightshooting too. thanks guys....!
Luckily the crew made it just in time...so we could capture, the "SAR-Phlyout" Huey in Landsberg, and sometimes these things happen, and we are still happy that we were able to see the beauty flying too, even the reason was not so good, and luckily the aircrew of the crashed Tiger helicopter was not seriously wounded.

.....but we got sun and plenty of mighty Huey´s and Transall action - what do u need more?!
Luckily the weather was on our side again, and we had awesome conditions during the day. A big "Thank You" must go to everyone involved in Landsberg that worked hard to make this shooting happen. Everyone did an extraordinary job on that day.....and the evening too.

All the hard work has paid off, and the results are these great images.
So my decision was good...driving down up to Landsberg in the morning and returning home afterwards, so we spent 8 hrs driving back and for and almost 1200 km - but it was more as worth, and as result we could shoot plenty of Huey´s, Transall under a blue sky, with still snow too.

Ok enough of my blabla, and the impressions will tell the rest of the story, as always......It was once again a very enjoyable day, and even a chilly day spent on the flightline and near the Runway in Landsberg with all aircrews.
More will follow.......as a day later I was in Wittmund:-).

As always c & c are more as welcome, and thanks for watching

Cheers,
Mick

This is the way all aircrews will be welcome in Landsberg.....

Main reason to drive to Landsberg was....70+88 in the special c/s

This shot I took as u can see after sunset, when the Huey came back from Laupheim....

#4
Was not easy to shoot after sunset, but took this one with 1/20sec handhold.....a bit tricky!

#5
The Huey has two different side, this one has Air Force markings on the port side....

Image

#6
And the other side, shown Army markings starboard.....

Normally the plan was to shoot also during sunset, but due to the operational tasks we do it next time.....

Luckily we were still able to do some nightshots too and with some additional water, we still get some decent images

#9
With some additional water.....we get a nice mirror effect!

Hovering just in front of me..what a sound!

Image

#11
We had also time enough to shoot local Trall´s too....

#12
Like this one too.....with the Huey and Trall in one!

And a must have for me as a firefighter and as a giveaway, after my shooting - its my pleasure also to do something special for my colleagues too!
