Rare King Air @ Waddington 091009

Post by dinger » Fri Oct 09, 2009 5:24 pm

This is my first post on the new forum, so I will start with a rare beastie. ZK457, one of the more elusive King Airs operated by the RAF spent the bulk of today operating out of RAF Waddington. I was lucky enough to capture it this afternoon on its last touch and go before it departed to RAF Lyneham.

Nice, is this a relativly new addition to the RAFs King Air fleet?

As far as I know, it was operating in Iraq for around 12 months before it came back to the UK. I stand to be corrected though.

Ties up with MAM, which has it down as MOD, Iraq

Operating with the others out of Cranwell I suppose?

It was noted arriving at Cranwell on Weds night and it departed yesterday morning. It has been operating mainly from Gamston (where it gets serviced) and Lyneham and it was using an ASCOT callsign today.
