160th Nightstalker Chinooks Return to RAF Mildenhall

Post by MFoster » Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:25 am

Took a chance with Johns Field for the return of the MH47s back to RAF Mildenhall after they had partaken in Exercise Dark Lightning, I was hoping that given the wind direction they would fly down the runway towards Johns Field, then taxi off at the end like they had done previously, so it was a nice pleasant surprise when they came in on a Runway 10 arrival behind us, straight down the runway and then turned off midfield!

Lucky to have been able to catch these machines twice now and I definitely hope this isn't the last time some of the 160th SOAR kit makes an appearance in the UK!

Here are a few photos including a bonus Macdill AFB based KC135 that arrived prior to the Chinooks arriving

Think I caught these guys a couple of times, first time I was en-route somewhere so wasn't really concentrating but my last sighting was pretty cool, makes an interesting change from the RAF Versions....

A nice set and some great light that really pulls out the details on these birds!
