Crikey that was quick

Great shot. I suspect many of us will have the same images.

Lovely light for these.

It is indeed a nice scheme which I haven't seen photographed before.

"Rolling Thunder".presumably commemorates the 1965-68 US bombing campaign against North Vietnam in which the 555TFS (now the 555FS, part of the 31FW at Aviano) participated as part of the 8TFW based at Ubon in Thailand.

Flying F-4Cs and F-4Ds the 555TFS scored 19 MiG kills during Rolling Thunder, probably the reason for the red stars on the fin of this special scheme. The 555FS went on to score a further 20 MiG kills during the 1972 "Linebacker" campaign against North Vietnam, by then part of the 432TRW at Udorn in Thailand.

If it’s meant to be a SEA scheme you’d have thought they get the colours right (that’s from a modeller’s pedantic viewpoint).🙄

Great catch.
It is an intriguing scheme.
I have figured out why in 2024. In 1964 it was re instituted at MacDill and then flying the F4C.
I can’t figure out why 7 MiG kills. If anyone can help me out please do so.
Keep them comming
