Ex Air Defender (or a flashback to the 90s)

Post by Richie B » Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:27 pm

Air Defender 23 was a bit like stepping back in time to the early 90s when Teen fighters, Tonkas and Hogs ruled the skies.

Image
1. The main event (for me!), F-15Cs in action in Europe again.

Image
2. Hohn was the Eagle's home for a few weeks and perfect for photography.

Image
3. For many the return of the A-10s was the real highlight.

Image
4. Schleswig/Jagel hosted a large contingent of the exercise and offered many opportunities to see the Hog in action.

Image
5. The Colorado ANG brought their specially marked 100th anniversary bird.

Image
6. Others were a little less colourful.

Image
7. The USN also brought a mix of Super Hornets.

Image
8. Including this rather nicely marked EA-18G Growler.

Image
9. German Tonka's were a regular participant.

Image
10. As was various transport aircraft including this A400 marked up especially for the exercise.

Image
11. Other nations including Hungary, Turkey and the UK also took part.

Image
12. But of course it was all about the Eagles! ;)

They are good, so crisp and sharp.

It was a great exercise for both number crunchers and photographers, glad I went over.

Well done.
