Italians again

Post by d555 » Sun May 21, 2023 9:31 am

As a follow up to my previous post of the ITS San Marco in the distance off Plymouth, on Friday she came into HMNB Devonport.
This gave the locals better opportunity to see her and the the MH101,s which were on deck as she has no hangar facilities where they could be hidden away.
A bit of a rare visitor to these shores, so it was nice to see.

These were not taken in Cawsand Bay but from the western side of The Narrows (I'm guessing from the fortifications there in Mount Edgcumbe Park?) opposite Devil's Point.
This would be the optimum place to shoot from after midday, despite the fact that we were lucky with the light on Friday.

Spot on!
Also, from this side the view of the helicopters wasn't impeded by the ships superstructure.

Thanks for sharing these, nice to see the ship with several choppers aboard, so added interest.
