RAF Lossiemouth: 9th May 2023

Post by ranger703 » Thu May 18, 2023 12:02 pm

Hi all,

It's been a while since I last posted. Here is my selection from a day on base, at the tower in the morning and on the old TACAN hardstanding beside the runway in front of the new fire section in the afternoon. A very good, busy day that reminded me of the good old days.

7 FN Rafales from 12Flotille, Landivisiau.

No143, FN Falcon 10MER (‘Marine Entraînement Radar – Navy Radar Training’.) was another visitor to arrive late morning. It is currently used primarily for transportation and has been in FN service for almost 48 years!!ImageLOSSIE06 by Andrew Walker, on Flickr

No.39, FN Rafale with marked fuel tanks.

The old TACAN hardstanding is great for closeup shots. It was a favourite location back in the day too.ImageLOSSIEMCO30 by Andrew Walker, on Flickr

The Rafales looked quite at home at Lossie and indeed a lot of the crews have been here on numerous occasions whether it be land based or operating from the CdG.ImageLOSSIEMCO1 by Andrew Walker, on Flickr

Thanks for looking

What a great selection of shots you have posted. Those taken from your visit to the tower show the aircraft from some different angles, not often seen.
The taxiway shots are my favourite, the Rafale certainly 'looks the business' .
Thanks for posting.
